Let's talk Sex and Relationships

Sex and Relationships

Talking about sex maybe awkward. It maybe awkward because sex is taboo to talk about in a lot of cultures. People have shame around bodies and sexuality, so talking openly about sex and relationships may bring up feelings of awkwardness. It remains disproportionally stigmatized.

Sexual communication involves a degree of risk. By revealing your sexual wants and desires to your partner can be scary, especially when your partner's reaction is not positive to sex talk, you can become vulnerable to judgement, criticism or sometimes rejection. There is also fear of hurting each other's feelings. That is why we have have organisations such as SHOUT-IT-NOW. An organization that empowers the youth to have bold conversations about sex and relationships.

We had the pleasures of speaking to Dr Ntombifikile Mtshali who is the CEO of SHOUT-IT-NOW. Shout-It-Now specialises in HIV and GBV prevention focused on Young woman. Their model is client centric and we ensure delivery through large modern buses to get to hard to reach places, young professional staff- providing health services to the youth by the use, technology to enhance managing client experience and data and their communication is relatable and easily understood by the youth  - given some medical terms being used there are often misinformation and intimidating medical language can be a barrier for youth.

Here are services that they provide the youth.

*Rapid HIV testing with linkage to care

*PrEP : The HIV prevention pill ( PrEP initiation and maintaince)

*Life Skills Programmes
