We spoke to Anthea Bendie and
Yolanda Bomvana from Action Volunteers Africa (AVA) which is a non profit
organisation that was started in 2012 with the focus of using volunteering as a
tool for the youth as unemployment is so high, where they connect the youth
towards opportunities.
There main aim is to make
youth more employable for the work place through programmes like Self
Development, Literasea, Work for Progress, the Self Development programmes
entail Breaking believe by your dancer, Art’s and Body Maps.
The Year Beyond programmes is
looking for volunteers between the ages of 18-25 years, which has a 60% in
Maths or 60% in Pure Maths and 60% in English rate. You will receive a stipend
of R2000.00 towards transport. This initiative is implemented in 22 schools
already.
