Today i also spoke to Deleen from Sisters Incorporated , Sisters Incorporated is helping women to help themselves by making a difference and improving their own lives for a better future. They are a private welfare organisation  , founded in 1959 with the intention of taking in women that are pregnant and are not able to take care of themselves as well as their babies.

 They later observed that the are more and more women in south Africa that are in live under domestic violence and they wanted to make a change to this. Now Sisters Incorporated offers help to women that have been abused physically and emotionally.

Deleen adds that one obstacle that seems to be standing in the way of them taking more numbers of women at the center -are funds. If you can help in a way possible please do call  021 797 4190.

Winter having an effect on Bloodstocks

The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is appealing to all donors to donate blood as blood stocks are critically low. “The winter is having a severe effect on our bloodstocks and we are amidst a severe blood stock shortage”, says Marike Carli, Public Relations Manager at WCBS. There is a critical shortage in the O and B blood groups, with only a 2-day supply left. The A-positive blood stocks are also under severe pressure as only a 3-day supply is left. WCBS always aim to have a blood stock level of 5 days. The winter weather is not conducive to going out, and with the continuing storms in Cape Town, they are seeing the effects on their blood stocks. Blood donors suffer from colds and flu during this time and can subsequently not donate blood – up until the resolution of their symptoms .
