In today's show, Binky Newman - Owner of Design Afrika was Instudio to tell us more about the women
weaving project in Du Noon. A new pilot project initiated by the City of Cape Town in Dunoon is weaving
social upliftment as 25 underprivileged and unemployed women were taught to
weave typha and river reeds into baskets and mats. Phase two of the project
will teach the women how to market and sell their products. The training aims
to empower women so that they can provide for their families and to train
others what they have learnt. For further information send an email to binky@designafrika.co.za
