Dissel - Secretary for the Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of Police
Inefficiency and Ineffectiveness in Khayelitsha and a Breakdown in Relations
between the Community and the Police. We were talking about their preliminary
hearing taking place next month. The commission will hold a preliminary sitting next month
with further public sittings during January, February and March 2014 to avoid
further setbacks after it was delayed for a year by litigation initiated by the
Minister of Police and several other applicants. The preliminary sitting aims
to create awareness about the commission and hopes to encourage people to
contact the commission if they have any information or experience regarding the
police in Khayelitsha. Their office will be open daily until
November 29th, 2013 between 09h00AM and 13h00PM for members of the
community to make statements to Commission staff relating to policing in the
area. The preliminary sitting is happening on Wednesday November 13th,
2013 at Lookout Hall, Spine Road , Ilitha Park in Khayelitsha from
