Shelley O'Carroll - Director and
Early Literacy Programme Coordinator of Wordworks joined us on the line to talk about the
organisation and their home-school partnership programme. Wordworks
aims to support and improve the literacy and language development of children
from disadvantaged communities through targeted early intervention and the
delivery of proven programmes and resources. They believe that by working with
parents, teachers, volunteers and the wider community, together we can help all
our children realise their full potential. Their 3 main areas of work include supporting early
literacy and language development, empowering parents to support learning in
the home and strengthening literacy and language teaching in Grade R.
The Home-School Partnership Programme
supports parents with skills, knowledge, fun ideas and resources for building
their young children’s learning and language skills at home. For
