Gender - Perinatal Mental Health Project empowers mothers of Hanover Park

On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Liesl Hermanus - Counsellor for the Perinatal Mental Health Project in Hanover Park. We were talking about challenges faced by teenage mothers. PMHP is an independent initiative based at the University of Cape Town. It provides a counselling service in 4 public obstetric facilities in Cape Town as one out of three women living in poverty in South Africa will suffer from a mental health problem related to her pregnancy. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese.
