In today's show, we heard from Manny de Freitas – From the Democratic Alliance speaking to us about the
Alternation of Sex Description and Sex Status Act. The Alteration
of Sex Description and Sex Status Act No. 49 of 2003 is a South
African Act of Parliament which allows a person to change, under certain conditions,
their sex recorded in the population registry. We also spoke to from Sally Gross – Director of
Intersex South Africa, who felt that implementation of the Act left a lot to be
desired. For
more information about the Act go to www.info.gov.za
