We also heard from Axolile Notywala - Manager of Imali Yethu, a project by the Social Justice
Coalition and Ndifuna Ukwazi. Imali Yethu or "Our Money"
aims to promote public engagement with government budgets, ensure that
government adequately allocates funds to the needs of marginalised communities,
and monitor the implementation of allocated funds. This month marked the beginning of the social
audits that was conducted to get a better understanding of service delivery in
Khayelitsha which aspires to put pressure on the City to provide better service
oversight, especially when they outsource important services like sanitation.
