Health - MTC in partnership with Bush Radio focuses on TB Awareness

Alison Best
On Sakhisizwe today, we were broadcasting live from the Brooklyn Chest Hospital as part of the MTC project in partnership with Bush Radio. We spoke to Alison Best - Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation Co-ordinator for TB/HIV Care Association. We were talking about the services they offer and the recent march they embarked on to commemorate World TB day. TB/HIV Care Association aims to improve TB and HIV management by increasing access to TB and HIV diagnosis, care, treatment and community-based treatment adherence support. Last week Monday the association and partners embarked on a “Stop TB in my Lifetime” TB awareness march in central Cape Town in commemoration of World TB day as participants wore TB masks with positive messages to raise awareness and decrease the stigma around it. The day also provided mass HIV testing and counselling and screening for TB. For further information you can contact the Association on (021) 425 0050 or visit www.tbhivcare.org
