Professor Ana Puigvert - President of the Spanish Association of
Andrology and Secretary of the Ibero-American Federation of Andrology joined us on the line to tell
us more about the latest research and unsaid when it comes to men, their health
and sexuality. She is the co-editor "Human
sexuality" and has participated as a researcher on multiple clinical
trials. It appears the medical fraternity readily accepts that sexual activity
is a marker of successful ageing and while sex was historically viewed by
society as the prerogative of the young, recently, increasing emphasis has been
placed on the maintenance of active sexuality as a marker of successful ageing
with growing importance of continued sexual activity across the lifespan. This follows the established link between
sexual function and overall health today, as there’s an increased awareness of
late-life sexuality amongst medical professionals and help-seeking for sexual
problems is encouraged.
