Labour - Cane crisis hits Cape Town Society for the Blind

In today's show, we spoke to Sedick Jordan - Awareness Officer for the Cape Town Society for the Blind. We were talking about how the soaring price of cane in Indonesia is threatening the livelihoods of the blind locally. According to media reports, a countrywide shortage of imported cane is putting the blind community’s income and work opportunity at risk since one container of raw cane brought in from either Indonesia or Malaysia is still more than three months away. The Society met with Alan Winde MEC of Finance, Economic development and Tourism yesterday regarding cane shortage and Mr Jordan said it was a fruitful meeting. For further information you can contact the Society on (021) 448 4302 or visit www.ctsb.org.za
