In today's show, we spoke to Mandla Hadebe - From the Economic Justice Network
to tell us more about the 4th Alternative Mining Indaba that’s
taking place next week in Cape Town . The Indaba will raise
issues about poverty of communities adjacent to mining activities, the lack of
adequate job creation, and the environmental impact of mining activities on
these communities as well as generally sustainability after mining operations
end. It also hopes to reflect on what actually caused the unrest and ultimately
the strife in the mines preceding the Marikana Massacre. The event’s happening
from next week from the 3rd of February till the 5th,
2013 at the Strand Towers Hotel. For further information you can contact
