Economic Justice Network to host 4th Alternative Mining Indaba

In today's show, we spoke to Mandla Hadebe - From the Economic Justice Network to tell us more about the 4th Alternative Mining Indaba that’s taking place next week in Cape Town. The Indaba will raise issues about poverty of communities adjacent to mining activities, the lack of adequate job creation, and the environmental impact of mining activities on these communities as well as generally sustainability after mining operations end. It also hopes to reflect on what actually caused the unrest and ultimately the strife in the mines preceding the Marikana Massacre. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese.
