The Glass Recycling Company is inviting schools to be eco-warriors & Arts Update

Theodorah Modise - Marketing officer at the Glass Recycling Company joined us on the line. The Glass Recycling Company is hosting a schools competition, with the aim of educating South African learners and developing a generation of eco-warriors. As a not-for-profit organisation drawing attention to “green” issues, the company aims to educate and encourage young consumers to ‘recover, reuse and recycle’, as well as to emphasise how glass recycling positively impacts the environment with minimal effort. Initially, the competition will be run in Gauteng, the Cape Peninsula and the greater Durban and Pietermaritzburg areas. Schools in these areas are invited to apply for the placement of the glass banks now, in preparation for the start of the competition in January 2013. Over the next several years, the roll out of the project will continue to spread into other areas. To further enhance the glass recycling drive, workshops will also be conducted for teachers, and educational material will be provided in order to guide educators on the theoretical and practical implementation of glass recycling activities.
