Dr Dagmar Whitaker - A Dermatologist and Skin Specialist joined us on the line to talk about Psoriasis. World Psoriasis Day was commemorated on October 29th with the aim of raising the profile of a condition which needs to be taken more seriously by national and international authorities. According to the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations, Psoriasis affects 125 million people globally. Psoriasis is a life-long skin disorder that causes red, scaly patches called lesions to appear on your skin which can show up on any area of the skin. There are several different kinds of psoriasis namely Plaque, Guttate, Pustular, Inverse and Erythrodermic. It can develop in males or females of any race or age which often appears between the ages of 15 and 35, although it can strike at any age including infants and the elderly.
