October is Eye Care Awareness Month

We heard from Dr Johann Slazus - An ophthalmologist at the Cape Eye Hospital to tell us more about eye care. October is Eye Care Awareness Month. The purpose of this initiative is to inform the public as to the ways and means of preserving eye health as well as creating public awareness. The South African National Council for the Blind’s message to all South Africans for Eye Care Awareness Month is: Get your eyes tested this month, wear sunglasses and protect your eyes against injuries. 80% of blindness is avoidable, take the necessary precautions and don’t become a statistic.
