We also heard from Dr Priscilla Springer - From Tygerberg Children’s Hospital. We were talking about the development of children with Down syndrome. October 17th
to the 21st marks National Down Syndrome Awareness Week. Down
syndrome is a genetic condition that causes delays in physical and intellectual
development. It is not related to race, nationality, religion or socioeconomic
status. The most important fact to know about individuals with Down syndrome is
that they are more like others than they are different. Dr Springer explained
more about this condition. For more information you can contact the Down
Syndrome Association of the Western Cape on (021) 919 8533 or visit
