06 September - Labour - Deaf Hands at Work founder to embark on a "Silent Walk"

In today's show, we heard from Charles Nyakurwa - Social entrepreneur and founder of Deaf Hands at Work. Deaf Hands at Work provides skills training for deaf South Africans and helps them find employment. Since September is Deaf Awareness Month, Charles is planning a massive campaign for the Deaf community that includes workshops in Masiphumelele and other communitities. Charles is going to be walking 200km in silence. The “Silent Walk” will begin on Saturday the 8th of September in Noordhoek. He will host the Deaf Hands at Work workshop in Masiphumelele, St Dominic School for the Deaf near Wynberg, DeafSA in Claremont, SLEAD (Sign Language Education and Development) In Woodstock and the Mary Khin School in Observatory. The Second day of his walk will begin at Noluthando School for the Deaf in Khayelitsha and from here he will begin a long trek to the De la Bat School for the Deaf in Worcester.
