Indigenous Knowledge Systems Health Unit. We were talking about traditional
medicine. This week is the African Traditional Medicine Week. According to the
World Health Organisation, in some Asian and African countries, 80% of the population depends on
traditional medicine for primary health care. It further states that as traditional medicine
practices are adopted by new populations there are challenges like International diversity, Safety,
effectiveness and quality, Knowledge and sustainability, Patient safety and
