11 July - Gender - UCT’s Democratic Governance and Rights Unit to host a gender seminar

In today's show, we spoke to Tabeth Masengu - Research officer at UCT’s Democratic Governance and Rights Unit. She was speaking to us about the seminar ‘Do Constitutions Matter? Gender Provisions and Women's Equality in Comparative Perspective’ that will be taking place in July 20th. This follows after new democracies, and some older ones, are increasingly including language about gender equality and women's rights in constitutions. ‘Do Constitutions Matter? Gender Provisions and Women's Equality in Comparative Perspective’ will be presented by Professor Priscilla Lambert of Western Michigan University and Professor Druscilla Scribner of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. The seminar will take place on Friday July 20th, 2012 at the Criminology Seminar Room, Level 6, Kramer Law School from 12:30pm to 14:00pm. For further information or to RSVP you can contact Sue on (021) 650 5906 or send an email to sue.wright@uct.ac.za
