We were talking about Epilepsy. This week marks National Epilepsy Week and it
is estimated that around 50 million or 1 in every 100 people worldwide has
epilepsy of which 90% are living in developing regions that is according to the
World Health Organisation. "Turning obstacles into true potential" is
this year’s theme and it aims to show the general public that potential can
bloom in the absence of discrimination. Epilepsy affects people of all levels
of intelligence and from all racial and social backgrounds as anyone can
develop epilepsy at any stage of life. The week focuses on educating South
Africans about the human rights of persons with epilepsy, which will assist in
dispelling the myths and social stigma associated with the condition. For more
