11 June - Health - Philani nutritional programme

In today's show, we spoke to Dr Ingrid le Roux - From Philani nutritional programme. We were talking about malnutrition amongst our children in South Africa. Today marks Day of the African child and therefore we were discussing and highlighting malnutrition since it’s estimated that one out of every three African children especially in the southern part of the continent in countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi suffer from it. Philani runs five Nutrition Centres in Khayelitsha (Site C, Site B and Mayibuye), Brown's Farm and Crossroads with each centre managed by a Nutrition Advisor and in addition a Dietician works across the Centres to train staff, advise mothers and oversee the menus for meals provided for our Educare children. For further information you can contact Philani on (021) 387 5124 or send an email to info@philani.org.za and alternatively visit the website www.philani.org.za
