South African Human Rights Commission to host public hearings on water and sanitation

Our last interview was with Cameron Jacobs - Senior Researcher at the South African Human Rights Commission. The commission will be hosting public hearings on water and sanitation tomorrow, the 14th of March 2012, at 6 Spin Street opposite Parliament from 08h30-14h30. The discussants will analyse the Department of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation’s report on the status of water and sanitation in the country, receive input from the Makhaza community and consider preliminary findings from the other provinces. The Commission will also launch its 2012-13 campaign to ensure accelerated service delivery of this right. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese. Child Protection Week is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about the rights and well-being of children.
