City high schools invited to elect Junior City Council

We also heard from Alderman Owen Kinahan – From the City of Cape Town. The reconstruction of the Junior City Council has now commenced with invitations to about 300 state and independent high schools across the city. All high schools who would like to participate in the Junior City Council are invited to do so before the 11th of November. The Cape Town Junior City Council provides a forum for the introduction of school-going youth to civic and community affairs, and the development of management and leadership skills. It does so to educate and uplift young people and to build leaders of the future. The composition of the JCC has been redesigned to more closely align the schools in each of the city’s 111 wards with governance and service delivery in Cape Town.
