01 November - Human Rights - Communities urged to mobilise against gangsterism and drugs
In today’s show, we spoke to Hanif Loonat – Chairperson of the Western Cape Community Police Board. The Board has urged community members in Gang infested areas to mobilise against gangsterism and drugs. According to the board, SAPS on its own cannot attain the desired successes without the collective assistance and partnership of the said communities. The board says communities are silent on this most explosive circumstance we find ourselves in. According to the board our silence is going to lead us to a point of no return. SAPS in the month of October have confiscated 29 firearms with 39 arrests. .And searched more then 900 drug houses with 1158 arrests. All this in gang infested areas. The Provincial Commissioner and his team are asking the concerned communities to report these members by calling his office or your local CPF chairpersons. They are also welcome to call Mr Loonat on 082 860 7863 or email him to loonats@iburst.co.za
