23 September - Arts, Culture & Environment - British Council to host Poetry Slam
In today’s show, we were joined by Gillion Bosman - Projects Manager at the British Council. Tomorrow they will be hosting Poetry Slam at the Khayelitsha Cock-Tale Arts Festival and the Fugard Theatre in the afternoon. Poetry slam aims to give young people the opportunity to take their poems from the page to the stage. In partnership with South African and British poets they hope to take groups of young aspiring poets from Cape Town, Durban and Mafikeng on a journey, where they will be encouraged to read and write through structured creative workshops. This will enhance their creative writing abilities, their language skills and develop their confidence in the long term. For more information check www.britishcouncil.org/africa or contact (021) 460 6665.
