02 August - Human Rights - ISASA offers M&E Bursaries
On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Gwen Williams – Academic Coordinator at the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa. They are inviting grade 9 learners who are good in mathematics, physical science and English, and who want to achieve a university entrance pass in these subjects in the National Senior Certificate examination to apply for the M&E Bursaries. The Mathematics and English programme is an ISASA initiative to increase the number of black South African learners with mathematics or science passes at National Senior Certificate level, as well as the number of teacher interns with Mathematics or Science as one of their teaching subjects. The programme is managed by ISASA and funded through donor contributions. Application forms and information sheets are available for download at www.isasa.org or for more information contact their offices on (011) 648 1331. Closing date for applying is the 23rd of August 2011.
