Retrenchment Procedure simplified
We closed off the show with an interview with Nowethu Ndiki – Commissioner at the CCMA. We were talking about retrenchments. Retrenchments refer to when the employer terminates the services of an employee for economic, technical or structural reasons. The Labour Relations Act regulates the procedure that is followed when retrenchments are initiated. Nowethu explained more about the process to be followed.
