No resolution for Metal Industry strike
We also played a feature produced by Khanyisa Tabata focusing on the current Metal Industry strike action. It is reported that the bilateral negotiations between the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of South Africa and the National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa negotiating teams over this past weekend and Monday, aimed at exploring possible options to bring the current metal industry wage dispute and strike to an end, were unsuccessful. According to David Carson - SEIFSA’s executive director, “the differences between the two parties at this stage is substantial and it appears unlikely that an early resolution to the strike is possible”.
