23 March - Gender - Questions raised about prioritising women's rights
On Sakhisizwe today, we spoke to Kubi Rama – Deputy Director at Gender Links. In view of the country celebrating Human Rights, Kubi recently wrote an article titled “Are women's rights a priority”. According to Kubi, one of the main drivers of gender inequality is women's and men's disparate access to the mainstream economy and the lack of recognition of women's work in the informal sector, community and domestic arenas. She highlighted some of the issues that she feels needs to be addressed around prioritizing women's rights.
