10 February - State of the Nation Address debate

In todays show, I was joined by Mukelani Dimba – from the Open Democracy Advice Centre, Jon Hodgson – from the Equal Education and Mazibuko Jara – representing the Democratic Left Front. They shared with us their expectations regarding issues and priorities which they would like to be highlighted in the State of the Nation Address. This evening President Jacob Zuma will deliver his annual State of the Nation Address. This is said to be the most important event in the nation’s calendar, as it provides an opportunity for review of the socio-economic milestones reached in the country, and maps out indicators for the road ahead. According to the Presidency, this year’s address will focus largely on economic upliftment of the people, mainly job creation.
