15 March - Health - Raising awareness about AVM

In today’s show, we spoke to Cliffy Festus. Cliffy has a rare condition called cerebral arteriovenous malformation or AVM, which is an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins in the brain that usually forms before birth. The cause of AVM is unknown. According to experts, although the condition is present at birth, symptoms may occur at any age. He is joining us on the line to raise more awareness about this condition and Cliffy is planning on opening a trust fund to raise funds for his and other sufferers’ medical fees but he will explain more. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese.
