17 September - Labour - SACTWU analysing revised wage offer
In today's show we heard from André Kriel - General Secretary for SACTWU. On Tuesday the clothing industry came to a standstill as tens of thousands of members of the Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers' Union embarked on a national wage strike in support of their wage demands but the clothing employers met at a national meeting of their negotiating team on the same day and yesterday morning submitted a written revised wage offer to the trade union. Yesterday morning SACTWU was in the process of analysing the detail of the employers' revised offer but he explained why they have not yet accepted the offer. For more information go to www.sactwu.org.za or contact their offices (021) 447 4570.
