The World Economic Forum on Africa 2009

We also played a feature on the World Economic Forum done by Sakhisizwe’s producer Umika Pidaparthy. The World Economic Forum on Africa 2009 is taking place here in Cape Town. The hot topic of discussion here has been how the global economic crisis has impacted the African continent. Keeping in mind the recession here in South Africa, one interactive session addressed unemployment and shifting skills needs. It looked at what training should be done to make sure the right people with the right skills were matched with the right jobs. Umika, our producer who attended the World Economic Forum presents a report on what was discussed at the session and interviewed the Vice President for the African Region of the World Bank Obiageli Ezekwesili on this topic.
