In today’s show, we heard from Arne Purves – Project Manager at the Cape Town Green Map Project. The project focuses on greening initiatives, carbon reduction and offset, water conservation, sustainable transport, integrated waste management, biodiversity awareness, green procurement, responsible tourism and environmental awareness. We were talking about the importance of the World Environment Day, which is today. Comemorating this day is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action and the theme for 2009 is 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'.
