Special rating areas - Gerhard Ras

We also heard from Councillor Gerhard Ras - Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services. We were talking about the new Draft By- Law for establishing Special Rates Area’s. Cllr Ras has stated that in its current format the SRA By-Law cannot be passed as it does not take into consideration the protection or provision for protection of the financially vulnerable residents to-be-declared Special Rates Areas who might be financially affluent to afford the impact of the additional rates levies imposed by SRA’s. 800 million people around the world are living with obesity.

  4th of March is observed as World Obesity Day and we spoke to CEO Professor Pamela Naidoo and Dietitian Kinza Hussian from The Heart and Stroke Foundation.  So according to the World Obesity Federation, 800 million people around the world are living with obesity. And then also in South Africa almost 65% of women and 30% of men are classified as being overweight or obese.
