We closed off the show with an interview with Sipho Makhasa – from the Institute of Waste Management. According to the Institute, South Africans needs to be educated on the importance of recycling waste to help slow the release of methane gas into the atmosphere. IWM president Vincent Charnley said there were 1 200 landfill sites which not only compounded the problem of asthma because of the quality of air, but also affected marine creatures as they were exposed to mercury. Mr Makhasa explained more about the importance of recycling. For more information you can call the Institute on (011) 675 3462/4 or visit their website www.iwmsa.co.za
