In today’s show, we spoke to Nikki Newman - Board Member at the Women in Film and Television SA as well as Calvyn Du Toit - from Visual Impact. WIFTSA is a network of women dedicated to advancing the professional development and empowerment of women working in the film and television industry. WIFTSA is an inclusive organization for women of all backgrounds. Its members work at all levels of the industry - from the owners of production companies to directors, entertainment lawyers, actresses, camerawomen, make-up artists and students. Women in Film and Television SA, in partnership with Visual Impact present a workshop called Get Technical to discuss the future of High Definition that will be happening on the Thursday the 16th of October. We were talking about the workshop and how women will be empowered through the skills taught. The workshop will discuss the future of High Definition (HD) and give participants a chance to “get technical” with a range of video equipment. It will be held from 18h00 PM -20h00PM at Visual Impact’s premises Number 1 Glynnville Terrace, in Gardens and is free, and open to everyone, but you must book your spot early as space is limited. We also heard from Shehaam Abrahams - from the South African Network for Women in Transport (SANWIT). We were talking about the role of women in the transport sector in South Africa as well as the launch of its Western Cape Chapter. SANWIT is an association of women who support the idea of strengthening the role of women in transport. This network is aimed at recruiting women or women groups as members and co - ordinate them into the SANWIT umbrella body. Our last interview was with Madeline Nkunu - Founder and CEO of Leading Women in Africa. To reach its objective of promoting unity of women and creating a united mouthpiece of women of Africa, Leading Women of Africa is striving to be present in every African Nation by 2011. To date the Organisation is officially represented in ten countries with partners across the globe. The presence of the organisation in every African Nation, will fast track the connection with women in different communities on the continent and will assist to assess their empowerment needs in various aspects.
