We also spoke to Sarah Struys - Events & Centre Manager at the South African National Biodiversity Institute. We were talking about the Chelsea Spring Festival that is happening at Kirstenbosch from today till the 14th of September. This is an opportunity for the whole family to spend a relaxed day at the glorious Botanical Garden to see floral art, botanical art, gardening talks as well as special offers to get you and your garden in trim. The Garden is open from 08:00am till 19:00pm. The entrance fee is R32 for adults and R20 for South African students with student ID cards. Fees for school children between 6- 17 years old are R10. Nigel Vermaas was also in today for the Arts update in and around the city. He spoke about the up and coming Zimfest, South Africa’s first Fundraising music festival for Zimbabwe, which will now be held in the main arena of the indoor Good Hope Centre tomorrow. It will feature performances from Freshlyground, The Rudimentals, The Dirty Skirts and seventeen other live acts. Including CODA, IKE MORITZ, HOT WATER, COLD HAND(!) Starts at 1130 in the morning, ends over 12 hours later!The one-day mega-festival will feature a 4500-sq. metre quadruple-domed indoor arena, raised indoor seating and a spacious VIP area. Also expect a seven kilometer-long bar, ample catering, band merchandise, plenty of parking, security and traffic control, and of course, loads of live local music!
