Today we were joined by Riaison Naidoo - from the Department of Arts and Culture. We were talking about the Timbuktu Manuscript Exhibition which is taking place at the Castle of Good Hope until the 3rd of September. The manuscripts on display cover astronomy, medicine, mathematics, science, poetry, religion, commerce, law and social relationships. The exhibition includes displays of artifacts and clothing from Timbuktu and the Sahel region. Presented in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture, the exhibition will travel to major centres throughout South Africa. We closed off the show with an interview with Eugene Lebreton – Co Chairperson of the Durbanville Folk Music Society. It is a non-profit society dedicated in bringing the most innovative and diverse acoustic and folk musicians to Cape Town's Northern Suburbs with the purpose to preserve and promote folk and acoustic music. On the 29th of August Durbanville Folk Music Society presents legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist Bill Knight at Villa Pascal House of Music in Durbanville. Bill Knight’s music is best described as Cape Roots Music, Infused with the sound and rhythms of Cape Town. Bill is also one of the founding members of Durbanville Folk Music Society.
