Today we heard from Dr John Gardiner – from Constantiaberg Medi Clinic. We were talking about Meningitis. Meningitis is an infection of the layers of tissues, which cover the brain and spinal cord. It is curable if treated early, but can result in permanent brain damage or death if not treated early. Dr Gardiner explained more about the sings and symptoms and the available treatment. We also spoke to Erica Stander – from the Hout Bay ADHD Group. We were talking about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and the services that they provide as a support group. Attention Deficit Disorder is a label given to children and adults with significant problems in four main areas of their lives: Inattention, Impulsivity, Hyperactivity and Boredom.
