Today we were joined by Madelein Mkunu – CEO of Feminar Business Network. We were talking about the Leading Businesswomen of Africa Forum due to take place from the 18th to the 21st of May here in Cape Town. The first forum is targeting to unite economic women leaders and role players from private and public sectors from all regions of Africa with a particular focus on the most twenty (20) economic Leading Countries. We also spoke to Dalene Van Staden – from FAMSA. We were talking about the Divorce Counselling that FAMSA provides for members of the public. According to FAMSA as the strain of the daily life takes its toll on people, the resulting stress impacts negatively on their relationships. The divorce rate has reached a record high with the children involved often having behavioural problems and without intervention these negative cycles are perpetuated in their adult lives. Dalene told us how they assist families and those around them to deal with life and society's pressures. Winter having an effect on Bloodstocks

The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is appealing to all donors to donate blood as blood stocks are critically low. “The winter is having a severe effect on our bloodstocks and we are amidst a severe blood stock shortage”, says Marike Carli, Public Relations Manager at WCBS. There is a critical shortage in the O and B blood groups, with only a 2-day supply left. The A-positive blood stocks are also under severe pressure as only a 3-day supply is left. WCBS always aim to have a blood stock level of 5 days. The winter weather is not conducive to going out, and with the continuing storms in Cape Town, they are seeing the effects on their blood stocks. Blood donors suffer from colds and flu during this time and can subsequently not donate blood – up until the resolution of their symptoms .
