She was one of the nominees for the 2007 Shoprite / Checkers Women of the Year Award. We also spoke to Professor Rachel Jewkes – Director of the Medical Research Council’s Gender and Health Research Unit. The Research Unit was established in 2001 from the Women’s Health Division of the Centre for Epidemiological Research in Southern Africa and its goal is to improve the health status and quality of life of women through high quality scientific research on gender and health.
