25 July – Gender

Just a recap of today’s show, we spoke to Lee Loyns – Youth Service Director at Boys Town. They help boys who are Neglected, Orphans or have Behavioural Problems. They believe in the uniqueness and potential of every child to mature and grow to responsible adulthood. For more information about Boys Town you can contact their offices at (021) 857 3930 or visit their website: www.girlsandboystown.org.za

We also spoke to Claudia Van Niekerk – Director of the St Michaels Home. The home is for abused teenage girls in Plumstead, and looks after about 20 girls. St Michaels offers them a place of safety and stability, but needs assistance in the day-to-day caring of the teenagers. They would welcome donations in the form of toiletries, clothing, stuffed toys, games, books and stationery. For more information you can contact their offices at (021) 797 4186.
