Today we spoke to Sister Louise Goosen from the Mowbray Maternity Hospital – We were talking about Breastfeeding. As we know that this week is Breast Feeding Week. Experimental evidence suggests that, with few exceptions, human breast milk is the best source infants. Experts still disagree about how long one should continue to breast feed, and how much extra risk is involved in using breast milk substitutes. Our last interview was with Michelle May from Cancer Association of South Africa. This week is the Cancer Prevention week and Michelle told us more on what to do to prevent cancer. Being diagnosed with cancer may be difficult to handle. People involved may experience different and sometimes confusing emotions but the good news is that some cancers are preventable like Skin Cancer. A range of activities are planned for Cape Town:
-Click's Somerset Mall will have an exhibition at their pharmany on the 3rd and 4th of August.
-Bonteheuwel Cancer Care group will host a cancer survivor's day on the 5th of August in Bonteheuwel Civic centre from 3-5 pm. All family members and freinds who lost loved ones due to cancer as well as survivors of cancer are welcomed.
