Today we spoke to Mpho Motheane – from Mpho & Uvimba Band and her manager David Shuping. Mpho’s recently released album is called Sabela and is available in music stores and she is also involved in a community project called Uvimba Theatre and Music Laboratory. And we also spoke to Siyabonga Ntamesi from the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. We were talking about the Western Cape Archives and Records Service. Nigel Vermaas was also in the studio for the Arts Update in and around the city and we played an interview he had with Andrew Ford about the JAZZ AT THE MANSIONS CD.

Our last interview was with Carrol Boyes – convenor of METAL and founder and CEO of Carrol Boyes Functional Art. We were talking about this year’s METAL competition. METAL is an initiative that was started by Carrol 4 years ago and aims to launch the career of a young design talent. It is a nationwide search and open to anyone in the design field, specifically students who want to make a career in the various design fields. The competition entries close on the 31st of May 2007.
