Today we spoke to Richard Freedman – Director of the Cape Town Holocaust Centre. The centre is currently running an exhibition titled- Witnessing Darfur. It is a multimedia expo to raise awareness about the current humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of the Sudan. The expo was opened on the 17th of this month by Mr Jody Kollapen, Chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission and will be running till Thursday the 25th of January. And we will also be talking to Elaine Connell from the South African Riding for the Disabled Association. SARDA provide the opportunity of therapeutic and recreational horse riding for disabled people so that they might benefit in all aspects of their mental, physical and social lives. And our last interview was with Alawiyah Alie – coordinator of the Omama Bamaqhawe Memorial Bursary Fund from the Direct Action Centre for Peace and Memory. The organisation will be handing over bursaries to ten students on Friday. The selected students are sons and daughters of ex-combatants, ex-prisoners and ex-political activist who fought in the struggle against apartheid in the Western Cape.
