Today i spoke to Bongani Vakale from the South African Spaza Shop Co-Operatives calls on Spaza shop owners to partner with them and build a healthy  relationship.

Today i also spoke to Olwethu Founder and Coordinator for The Red Wings Project .  The Red Wings Project is an initiative aimed at highlighting the lack of sanitation and misery of disadvantaged women unable to access adequate sanitary products and care. “9 million girls aged between 13 and 19 miss a week of school every month for lack of sanitation.” “The cost of sanitary ware and towels is beyond the reach of most young women and girls, who in  Africa  are the majority of the unemployed and those living in poverty. The World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is the greatest outreach vehicle for the breastfeeding movement being celebrated in over 120 countries. Officially it is celebrated from 1 - 7 August. Breastfeeding has an important link to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which are meant to be achieved this year! Although poverty has gone down, 1 in 8 people still go to bed hungry. Undernutrition affects about a quarter of all children globally. In the last 2 decades, child mortality has decreased by about 40%, but still almost 7 million children under five die each year, mainly from preventable diseases. As the overall rate of under-five mortality has declined, the proportion of neonatal deaths (during the first month of life) comprises an increasing proportion of all child deaths. Globally, maternal mortality has declined from 400 per 100,000 live births in 1990 to 210 in 2010, but fewer than half of women deliver in baby-friendly maternities. Monday - Health - We talk medication!!

Today i spoke to Balarka Robinson about meditation.  Meditation is an ancient practice used in many spiritual traditions and paths to reach a state of awareness or consciousness beyond the everyday experiences of the mind and body. In this state of consciousness we become aware of previously unknown inner qualities such as inner peace, inner joy, inner happiness and divine love. We experience these qualities not merely as transient ideas or thoughts of the mind, but rather as tangible inner realities that spontaneously change the way we experience and interact with the world around us. People who embark on a regular practice of meditation generally find that they feel happier, more peaceful and less affected by the natural ups and downs of life. Why meditate ?  Everyone begins meditation for unique personal reasons, sometimes out of curiosity, sometimes out of a desire to become happier and more peaceful, or sometimes to follow a spiritual path. Whatever the reason, it does no
