The Clothing Bank - empower unemployed

The Clothing Bank is a non-profit organisation that empower unemployed women to become self-employed business owners. They believe that self-employment is something that everyone can do, regardless of their education levels and resources, as long as they are self-motivated and well supported (mentally and emotionally). The Clothing Bank supports the goal to up-skill and equipping over 1000 previously unemployed women per year to have the ability to personally change the course of their destiny.
Tracey Gilmore who is the Co-Founder of the Organisation came to talk about The Organisation and the projects they are busy with.
The Clothing Bank started 10 years ago, when Tracey's business establishment failed. Her female employees became jobless and they couldn't find employment. Looking at the different clothing industries, she realized that many clothes are wasted, a huge amount of excess clothes could be sold: The Clothing Bank got started.
Currently, they are running three projects: the appliance bank, the clothing bank and grow with educare centre's. The appliance bank project started 4 years ago, when they realized that men also struggle to fine employment. They need to be empowered too. Basically, all the broken house appliances they get from their suppliers they fix and sell.
The clothing bank project consists of women who have children (18-years-old or less). They get clothes from their suppliers and they sell them.
Grow with educare centre project is the access to early childhood development education in marginalized communities. They give means to operate a good school.
The Clothing Bank has a 2 year program in which you learn in the first year all the life skills that a business owner would need and the second year, you get your deep dive in the business industry by applying what you've learned.
According to Tracey, to be a successful business owner, you need to start by a self-awareness, don't underestimate yourself, believe in yourself, you don't need be a school matriculate or to have a diploma in Business after all business is something one learn by being in the field and making mistakes and you need self-discipline put together with perseverance.
