In today's show, we spoke to Trevor Bailey – From
the Department of Labour about their Employment Equity road
shows. The Department of Labour is embarking on a series of national road shows
across the country to create awareness and compliance with the implementation
of the Employment Equity Act. Headed by the Department of Labour’s EE
Directorate Unit, the first round of road-shows kicked off yesterday in Paarl
as officials gave presentations to hundreds of employers focusing on the status
in the construction sector showing that whites still held dominant positions in
senior management levels. The road shows will continue this week at the Grand
West Casino in Cape
Town , each
day dedicated to the Construction, Manufacturing and Electrical sector, the
Wholesale and Retail, and Catering sector, as well as the Finance and Transport
sectors, respectfully. For further information go to www.labour.gov.za or contact Lulu Mtati
on (021) 441 8090.
